Long distance trouble and advice needed....?

Here's my story I started talking to a (20 year old) male that lives on the West Coast where as I am (23 years old) on the East Coast. I've known him for a year but since early November we've been texting and talking non stop, he seemed really into me. Very flirty. He wanted to come visit but I was more interested in going there. (This was my first time seeing him in person) At first it was fun but after a few days he was very awkward to talk to in person we had a lot in common but it was hard to get conversation going. I was kinda shy and quite around him. He was easier to talk to via text and Skype. He asked me out however later on said maybe he rushed into things, yet he tells me I'm very special to him & he wants to be close friends yet he acts like my boyfriend around me. He said he needed some space and wanted to enjoy alone time after spending a week with me. Also college is starting up very soon so I ume he's preparing for that as well as playing a ton of warcraft. Now I've returned home, it's been a few days and I've noticed the texts have changed to an uninterested tone (or maybe I'm just uming). He seems indecisive and confused a bit over the matter, I know he likes me to a degree but I feel like he might not like me as much as he did previous to me spending some time with him. Now the question is what to do? Should I ignore him for a bit or will that further drive away his interest? Any advice would be nice to hear....
